Coupled with the widely accepted capitalist model, an economic system based on private ownership of the means of production and their operation for profit, the necessities that became commodities were packaged and sold to you the consumer for profit.
Necessities like food and drink bottled up, packaged and sold.
Being a consumer in an industrialised capitalist society, one must normally work for a producer, so they continue to acquire profit and you continue to consume whats necessary to survive. Whereas in an agrarian society your work is to produce whats necessary for your own survival…
