Israel’s government ramped up measures to fight the spread of Covid-19 as the country saw its number of confirmed coronavirus infections jump to 1,238 and one death related to the disease as of March 24, 2020. In the occupied Palestinian territories, though Gaza had been free from the coronavirus, it reported its first two cases on March 22. As Palestine’s total number of cases reached 52, the Palestinian Authority ordered a two-week ban on all non-essential movement to prevent the spread of the virus. Amid the crisis, Israelis and Palestinians have agreed on rules for managing the movement of workers, as well as an unofficial ceasefire and plans for establishing a joint operations centre to combat the disease.
